R. Pouillon & Fils
Champagne R. Pouillon & Fils - Grande Vallée
The Pouillon Estate was established in 1947 and consists of 6.5 hectares of vineyards in the Marne Valley. In total, 36 plots are divided between the fabulous terroirs of Aÿ, Mareuil sur Aÿ and Epernay.
The pinot noir is widely represented, and the tasting of the house's champagnes allows us to see in it a unique style: a bubble full of flesh and vinous, with an oriental character and slightly oxidative (reserve wines benefit from a long growth in barrel). Chardonnay is however not in vain.
Each year this is a blend of crus from all of Pouillon’s holdings and is composed of roughly 65% pinot noir, 20% pinot meunier, and 15% chardonnay. This cuvée has evolved over time and improved in quality to better reflect the evolution of the domaine at large.
Today the "Réserve" Brut is fermented with native yeasts predominantly in neutral barrique, with 20% fermented in enameled tank. Elevage continues a minimum of 6-8 months before the wine is blended with the previous vintage and the "perpetual cuvée" to be refermented in bottle.
You won’t be disappointed since Pouillon constantly produces refine ethereal wines.
