Emmanuel Rouget
Echezeaux Grand Cru
Echezeaux Grand Cru
Bourgogne, France
Adjoining the Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru which separates it from Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux is a 30-hectare Grand Cru located on the hillsides.
Less prestigious than its elder brother, Echézeaux is nevertheless no less sought after. Échézeaux from Emmanuel Rouget is one of the most sought-after wines of the appellation.
It is a fleshy wine with a supple character thanks to a contained acidity and very fine tannins. its color is both lively, sustained, brilliant and very red.
The aromas are elegant and fine. They evoke scents of exotic precious woods such as cedar.
It is impossible to mention Emmanuel Rouget without mentioning his uncle Henri Jayer, one of the most emblematic winegrowers of Burgundy.
When he passed away, Emmanuel Rouget inherited the family estate located in Flagey-Echezeux.
Raised at his school, he perpetuates the unique know-how of one of the masters of Pinot Noir, particularly on the mythical Cros Parantoux.
Emmanuel Rouget has now made a name for himself thanks to constant rigor in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Yields are very low. The maturities are skilfully worked to always preserve freshness in the wines.
The harvest is 100% destemmed in the pure tradition of the estate, and the fermentations are slow and are carried out following the cold pre-fermentation fermentation invented by Jayer.
Emmanuel Rouget's wines are always silky, fresh and energetic.
Mythical wines that a lover of great Burgundy must have tasted at least once in his life.
